Melissa Chaudhry's statement on the murder of constituent Aysenur Eygi in the West Bank

It is with shock, anger, and grief that I respond to the death of Aysenur Ezgi. She was a brilliant and beloved  woman, our neighbor, and a supporter of our campaign.

Aysenur - a passionate advocate for peace and justice - was shot with a sniper rifle while standing, unarmed, near an olive tree away from the main demonstration.

This is a targeted killing of an unarmed civilian by an occupying force, armed with high-powered weapons paid for by US taxpayers. We cannot, in good conscience, continue to arm Israel.

Congress must act to protect lives and restore justice.
